  • Advertising Department at the Covington News for 18 years.
  • Currently employed by the Newton County Board of Education in the Media Center at Newton High School

City Initiatives and Taskforces
Was on the City Council when the City of Covington became the third city in the state to honor the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday and received a letter of thanks from Mrs. King for her efforts helped develop the Personnel Director position so that employees could voice their opinion on matters of the city.

 Community Service

  • Worked with the first Head Start program in Covington in 1965
    Beginning in high school Jane was involved in the integration process in the late 60’s and early 70’s.
  • She was instrumental in the organization of the Newton County Voter’s League, the Black United Front, the first Miss Black Newton County in the 70’s and the Bi-Centennial Celebration in Newton County
  • Has a strong commitment to public health and has served Newton Kidney Foundation, the Hearth Foundation, is a registered Bone Marrow Donor, trained in First Aid and CPR and has obtained Hospice training
  • Has been a member of Grace United Methodist Church since she was 8 years old and is a certified Lay Speaker of for the United Methodist Church and has serve Church School teacher, Sunday school Superintendant, Administrative Board Secretary, Publicity Chairman, is a member of the Gospel Choir and is currently serves chair of Pastor Parish Relations

Interests
Cooking, reading and writing, collecting porcelain shoes of all sizes, shapes and colors. Has a loving family which she adores.
Ms. Goodman has always been an advocate for people; she has a passion for helping her fellowman. She doesn’t hold back much so you just have to hold on because if it needs to be said, she will say it. She is reliable, honest and dependable
