Boards and Commissions

The citizens of Covington have a long tradition and a commitment to promoting the betterment of the city. The citizen volunteers that serve on the city’s board, commissions and task force system exemplify this. The City of Covington appoints civic minded citizens as volunteers to boards, committees and commissions. These individuals offer a wide range of experience, interests, and expertise in their service as members of public bodies.

The board and commission are established pursuant to city charter, ordinance or resolution. The boards acts as a group of persons that review specific issues and carrying out assignments as requested by the City Council or prescribed by law with the commission can act in a quasi-judicial capacity. In effect t he boards and commissions are advisory panels only, giving guidance to staff and recommendations for action to Council.

Each group is established to secure the participation of City of Covington residents to promote good government and the effective and efficient delivery of services.
