John was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania
and attended Westminster College where he earned a BBA Degree. He
served with the 101st Airborne Division where he spent two years.
After 26 years of service with Aaron Rents, Inc., he retired and currently
works for Jerry O. Capes and Associates, Ltd. John has served on the
Covington City Council since 1993 and has been active on several committees
including The Airport Committee and The Tree Board. To further develop
his role as an elected official, John has taken courses from the Carl
Vinson Institute of Government, including Municipal Finance I and
II, Economic Development, Ethics in Government, and Conflict Resolution.
John is a member of First Baptist Church of Covington. John completed
a six-month multi-session program in 2002 at the Georgia Academy for
Economic Development entitled "Vision to Regional Results".
Laura J. Meadows, Commissioner, Georgia Department of Community Affairs
appointed him to the Georgia Region 5 Advisory Council in 2003. He
was elected Chairman of Region 5 RAC in 2005. John has lived in Covington
since 1967. He and his wife Jean have three children and five grandchildren.
