to the Covington Fire Department's web page. The City of Covington is a
dynamic and unique city rich with history and tradition and has a future
that looks very bright. The Covington Fire Department has been a vital part
of the City's past and will play an even greater role in providing safety
for our citizens in the future. As we enter the 21st century, the members
of the Covington Fire Department and staff will continue to be innovative
and aggressive in our approach to the issues facing our community.

the Covington Fire Department
The
Covington Fire Department has a staff of 46 personnel consisting of 45 full
time State certified firefighters providing fire protection, emergency medical
first responder services, haz-mat response, rescue operations, fire safety
education, fire cause investigation and fire code inspections to a population
of 11,547 over 13.45 square miles.

The Covington Fire Department has received Accredited
Agency status with the Commmission on Fire Accreditation International
(CFAI) for meeting the criteria established through the CFAI's voluntary
self-assessment and accreditation program. The Covington Fire Department
is one of 89 worldwide, which has achieved Accredited Agency status
with CFAI. The department is one of only four in the State of Georgia

Chief Don T. Floyd is recognized by the Commission on Chief Fire
Officer Designation for his knowledge, abilities and skills required
for the fire and emergency services profession. In recognition of
his successful completion of the requirements of the Commission,
he has been designated "Chief Fire Officer" (CFO). Chief
Floyd is one of only 22 CFOs in the State of Georgia.
