Dedicated first responders, electric, natural gas and public works crews along with the sanitation, administration and numerous other departments, all share the common goal of keeping Covington a premier destination to live, work and create.

Environmental Compliance
The Environmental Compliance Department of the City Of Covington oversees three of the major areas of environmental concern; Oil & Grease Regulation, Cross-Connection Control, and Industrial Pretreatment.

GIS
A geographic information system (GIS) consists of computers or workstations, mapping software, and geographic data that can analyzed, edited, queried, printed, and displayed in various forms.

Human Resources
The H.R. Department coordinates with other city departments, boards and commissions to attract, recruit, retain, motivate, develop and reward the city’s workforce.

Land Application System
The Land App. System removes nutrients in wastewater by irrigating.

Natural Gas
The City of Covington has been providing residents of Covington and Newton County with dependable natural gas service since 1956.

Water Department
The Water Department consists of 13 dedicated people with various degrees and state licenses.  These qualified associates have over 100 years of experience in the Water & Sewer Construction field.

Water Reclamation
Responsible for the ultimate disposal of the processed wastewater in a manner that is safe and acceptable to the environment and the law.

Engineering Department
Providing Civil Engineering guidance to the City Manager, other City departments, boards and commissions, and the general public.
