Covington is a special place to live...and work.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Applicants must complete an online application for each position.  Please follow the instructions with the application. All applications must be completed in full.  Because the initial screening is based strictly on the completed application, it is very important to include all information requested and to be as thorough as possible.  The application should include not only paid work experience, but all other experience which may apply to the job, i.e. volunteer experience, licenses, relevant classes you have taken, and professional training. If you need more space, you may attach additional sheets.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Please note the education and/or experience requirements listed in the Job Vacancy Announcement and job description.  These are minimum standards which all applicants must meet in order to be considered for employment. All applicants of the City of Covington must successfully pass pre-employment drug testing and a background investigation which may include information listed on application, driving history, criminal history, identity and credit report for all applicable jobs.

EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION REVIEW AND HIRING PROCESS
A completed City of Covington employment application should be received in the Human Resources Office by the established closing date as stated on the job vacancy announcement.  Every application received by the established closing date is reviewed for minimum qualifications and competitiveness by the Human Resources staff. Should you meet the minimum requirements for the position, your name will be placed on a register of eligible candidates and forwarded to the appropriate department for consideration. This does not guarantee an interview for the position.

INTERVIEWS
1. Oral interviews are held with selected applicants who are chosen by the department manager and the Human Resources Department. The persons selected for oral interviews are then notified by telephone or letter when interviews are to be scheduled. You will be contacted only if you are selected for an oral interview.
2. After the oral interviews, a selection of the most suitable candidate will be made.
3. The Human Resources Department contacts the selected candidate for submission to a drug test. The candidate must successfully complete the drug test and background check before final employment is offered. After the results of the drug test and background check are obtained, the Human Resources Department contacts the applicant and offers the position.  All candidates who are interviewed, but not selected, are informed of the decision.

NOTE:  Applications and all materials (resumes, letters of reference, etc.) submitted with application become property of City of Covington and cannot be returned.
